Kathy shares some tips for offering assistance to guide dog users.
"As a person with vision loss, I sincerely appreciate the kindness of strangers, especially when I’m in a pickle and need some sense of where I am or directions to destinations, even a doorway. Asking someone for help is one of the tools we keep in our “tool box” to help us get around independently.
All this being said, what makes me crazy is when someone opens a door for me, either without asking, without telling me or even when I say 'no, thanks, I can get it myself.'”
